Fundación MAPFRE sends more than 160,000 euros to Ukrainian refugees

Since the outbreak of the conflict, more than 3.5 million people have crossed the Ukrainian border to escape the war, according to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). In addition, the number of displaced people who have had to leave their homes and migrate to other safer areas of the country has risen to 10 million.

Among those crossing the border, many enter Romania through the Siret border crossing after days of walking, without food, waiting in long lines, and sleeping outdoors. Most of them are women and children. Upon arrival, Fundación Mensajeros de la Paz welcomes them, providing them with shelter, basic humanitarian aid such as food and water, and comfort by coordinating assistance and transportation to other cities and reception centers.

Fundación MAPFRE will send 163,400.56 euros (70,000 of which have been donated by the Fundación) to this organization that receives Ukrainians fleeing from bombs and horror, to be used to cover their most basic needs. It has been possible to reach this amount thanks to the donations of many people, in addition to the contribution made by your Fundación and other companies the Group holds a share of. Together we have woven a veritable network of solidarity.

Fundación MAPFRE would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this campaign. Thank you for your contribution and your empathy with thousands of men, women and children who are today bearing the consequences of the war in Ukraine.

MAPFRE Malta also helped in this initiative by sharing the fund raising posts  on their social media channels where people were able to contribute towards this cause.

Apart from this initiative employees were encouraged to donate food and basic items for the refugees families who are now living in Malta . The donations were sent to the Ukrainian Community Centre Crises in Malta.
