Fundación MAPFRE Delegation visits Malta to strengthen Social, Cultural, and Health initiatives

MAPFRE recently had the honour of welcoming a distinguished delegation from Fundación MAPFRE to Malta, including CEO Elvira Vega, Arts Director Nadia Arroyo, and Project Director HRH Elena de Borbón. The visit aimed to deepen understanding of the ongoing projects supported by Fundación MAPFRE across various sectors in Malta.

During their brief but impactful stay, the delegation engaged with key stakeholders and visited several initiatives that reflect Fundación MAPFRE’s commitment to social wellbeing, health promotion, road safety, and cultural enrichment.

In the Road Safety domain, the delegation met with representatives from Malta Public Transport and Doctors for Road Safety (D4RS), who have been collaboratively running the Street Smart campaign for the past decade, promoting safer road practices across the island.

In the area of Health Promotion, the delegation had the pleasure of meeting Her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca. She shared insights into POP UP, a project led by the Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society in collaboration with Fundación MAPFRE, aimed at fostering mental and emotional wellbeing within communities.

The visit also included a stop at the Tal-Ibwar Adolescents Therapeutic Centre, where the delegation met with representatives from Caritas Malta. This engagement highlighted the impactful work being done to rehabilitate young individuals recovering from substance abuse, underlining Fundación MAPFRE’s dedication to Social Action.

In the realm of Culture and Arts, discussions were held with Heritage Malta regarding upcoming exhibitions at the Grand Master’s Palace, reinforcing Fundación MAPFRE’s support for cultural preservation and artistic expression.

Additionally, the delegation met with Hon. Minister Michael Falzon to discuss initiatives related to financial literacy education, a key area in empowering individuals and communities.

MAPFRE Middlesea CEO Etienne Sciberras and Chairman Martin Galea expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fundación MAPFRE for their unwavering support over the past 10 years. Their dedication, solidarity, and commitment have significantly contributed to Malta’s social fabric, with over €2 million donated to various impactful projects.

This visit marks another milestone in the enduring partnership between MAPFRE and Fundación MAPFRE, reaffirming their shared mission to foster positive change and community development in Malta.
