Fundacion Mapfre allocates €100,000 to those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela

Two powerful earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 have struck northern Venezuela, causing, so far, more than 200 deaths and leaving thousands of people in a vulnerable situation.

In response, Fundación Mapfre has activated its Emergency Aid Fund and will make a donation of €100,000 to support those most in need and help cover their most urgent needs.

The donation will be channeled through social organizations working in the area, in order to ensure that aid reaches people directly, quickly, and effectively.

In an initial phase, resources will be allocated to meet urgent needs, such as the supply of food and basic necessities in the city of Caracas and in other municipalities of the state of La Guaira, the area most affected by the earthquakes. Subsequently, efforts will focus on supporting the recovery of the hardest-hit areas.

In recent years, Fundación Mapfre has launched various campaigns to assist people affected by emergencies. Notable examples include those carried out in response to the floods in Andalusia, Portugal, and the DANA in Valencia, the wildfires in Chile, and the floods in Brazil, as well as the aid provided after the earthquake that devastated parts of Turkey and the initiatives aimed at mitigating the effects of Hurricane Otis in Mexico. Previously, other significant actions included support mobilized in response to the war in Ukraine and assistance provided when the population of Peru had to face the consequences of the Coastal El Niño phenomenon, among others.
