Due to the unfortunate circumstances created by the Coronavirus, one of the local refugee centres has gone into lockdown, and as result, those residing at the centre have been unable to go to work or even to buy their own food. The donation by MAPFRE Malta has helped provide the refugee community with access to food products they would normally need in order to celebrate Ramadan, which is observed by a vast majority of the residents there.
MAPFRE Middlesea CEO Felipe Navarro said that the goal behind this donation was twofold: to aid in the health and well-being of members of the refugee community, and to mitigate the stress caused by the lockdown by enabling residents to cook their own food, particularly during Ramadan.
